Note: Always place the cheese directly against the bread and keep the filling in the centre. The goal is to lock the filling inside the melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread, your choice
  • ¼ cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • A few slices of Douanier-style cheese
  • 1 tbsp tomato jam
  • 1 tbsp butter, at room temperature

Steps

  1. Top one slice of bread with half the cheese, spread the tomato jam over it, then add the remaining cheese.
  2. Close the sandwich and spread a bit of butter on the outer sides of the bread.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, toast the grilled cheese on both sides until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
  4. Cut the sandwich in half and serve.

Preservation

Best enjoyed immediately. Do not freeze.
