tomaté! is the result of our shared passion of tomatoes and our desire to assist our clients in experiencing their true flavour. We believe in the pleasure of gathering around a wonderful dinner where the tomato shines.
Our Story
Our Story
2012
Our journey begins in Saint-Damase, a small village in Montérégie where everyone shares and celebrates market gardening. We chose to buy the land from the Lussier family, Dominic’s parents, to start field cultivation. Dominic became the ninth generation of his family to farm in the region. We were known as the Dominic Lussier farm at the time.
2014
Faced with the great challenges of producing tomatoes in areas where environmental elements are poorly regulated, we decided to create our first greenhouse complex to ensure a successful harvest. We are growing more typical red and pink tomatoes, but we are also exploring more unique varieties.
2017
It is our ambition and desire to pamper the palates of Quebecers with exquisite produce and flavours that led us to focus exclusively on specialty tomatoes.
2019
This is our first greenhouse expansion, boosting our capacity to produce tasty tomatoes while developing our market. We’re expanding our greenhouses and tripling our growing area. This year marks the beginning of another significant collaboration with Sobey’s: our lovely tomatoes are now available at IGA throughout Québec!
2020
This marks our second greenhouse extension, nearly doubling our total growing area, making our tomatoes more widely available across the country. We are continuing to build strong partnership with retailers such as Metro and Courchesne Larose.
2021
tomaté!, our new name, will be adopted in September 2021. We are taking advantage of our tomatoes’ rising popularity to expand our greenhouses for the third time in order to meet demand and to be able to increase our offer by exploiting tasty new varieties that the public will be able to discover in 2022.
2022
We have expanded our production area by 40% to be able to offer you tomatoes 365 days a year. In the fall we planted the first tomato plants in our winter greenhouses.
2023
January marked the arrival of our tomatoes grown in our winter greenhouses at the stores, to the delight of our customers who can now buy them all year long.
2024
January highlights an important milestone for tomaté!; the brand is now officially registered in all its forms! Loose tomatoes are now called “les mamas” and are part of the tomaté! adventure. May is marked by pride with our CanadaGAP® certification, a food safety program for companies involved in the production, handling, and brokerage of fruits and vegetables. July welcomes another milestone in our growth; we sign a partnership with Super C. From now on, tomaté! is present in all major banners across the province.
