We had this wild dream of rediscovering the original taste of the tomato and a desire to create a sustainable, local economy with a product grown in Quebec.

But above all, we wanted to do things differently. After nine generations of farmers, the challenge to change traditions was immense. So we embarked on cultivating tomatoes with unbeatable flavor, in greenhouses… and year-round!

We were inspired by reasoned farming—a technique that emphasizes prevention to avoid the use of pesticides and reduce environmental and health impacts. It was worth the try. But our guiding principle was to cultivate with common sense!

Good common sense is the backbone of farmers, the most grounded way to make decisions for everyone’s benefit. So when challenges arose, we applied that common sense and persevered in our operations, maintaining a balance between our vision and our values.

From our beginnings in 2012 to today, we’ve surpassed many milestones!

From our first small, passionate, and committed distributors to partnerships with Quebec’s biggest chains (IGA, Metro, Super C), the journey has been tough, but we never got discouraged. For us, farming wasn’t just about cultivating the land but about growing as individuals and being able to share our innovative vision with teams where the human element is ever-present.

We are deeply convinced that to be good, you first need to feel good. Just like our “mama” tomatoes, every individual has their own unique qualities, and it’s up to us to find them the best role within our company to foster their growth—and by extension, the growth of our plants. It’s crucial for Tomaté! to practise the values we preach.

We have questioned ourselves, equipped ourselves, and improved over time, just like our actions. And it has paid off! After several expansions of our facilities, our current surface area is 14 times larger than it was in 2019.

Today, we cultivate our entrepreneurial spirit and challenge the mindset of the agricultural sector, keeping pace with our exponential growth.
